We went to dinner at the Pink Taco in LA last night. What a hoot!!! Ok, the name seems a little tacky since it is a reference to Miss Vajayjay, but in reality it is a cool and hip place to eat – OK, I will admit there is some tackiness in the place, but it is all in fun.
Perched high atop the Century City shopping center welcomed us with a towering castle-like lattice door, which is totally cool. I loved kitschy Mexican designs, low rider bikes on the walls, star-shaped aluminum light fixtures, vintage girlie pix alongside shrines to the Virgin de Guadalupe and century-old wooden barn walls that exude the party-hearty vibe people have come to know and love.
The food was great and well price (good value). The raspberry mojito rocks, the chips and salsa are great and in general we all liked our food. Highlights were the Lobster enchiladas and the pumpkin flan – a great way to end the meal.
Service was good, and the hostess got us seated quickly even though we were still waiting for one of our party. We got there at 7:00 on Saturday and had a 15 minutes wait, but as we were getting seated it was a 40 minute wait for those who came after us – so get there before 7:00 on Sat if you don’t want to wait.
